Environment Canada issues special weather statement for Toronto

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Toronto as heavy downpours are expected over some areas this afternoon and evening.

According to the agency, areas of showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect portions of the regions and torrential downpours are possible.

Some storms will be very slow moving which could result in highly localized rainfall amounts in excess of 50 mm.

According to Environment Canada, there’s a 60% chance of showers this evening with a risk of a thunderstorm.

However, the rain will pass by the evening and sun is forecasted for the rest of the weekend.
