After a successful launch last year, Parkbus has announced they are back this summer with their free service to Rouge National Urban Park.

Not only is the bus free, Parks Canada staff will be on each bus and help introduce first-time visitors to the park.

The TD Rouge Express will operate on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays between Saturday, June 30th and Sunday, September 30, twice per day, with departures at 9:00 am and 11:00 am near College TTC Station in downtown Toronto.

The shuttle returns at 12:30 pm and 4:30 pm.

Additional pickup will be available from MEC North York (at 784 Sheppard Avenue East, right next to Bessarion Station, with plenty of free parking) and will be offered at 9:25 am, with return at 3:00 pm.

According to Parkbus, on some days, service will run to the northern part of Rouge National Urban Park (Bob Hunter Area), and on others to the southern part of the park near the Zoo Road area, as per the summer schedule.

The service is free, although a credit card deposit will be required at the time of registration. There are also no park fees for Rouge National Urban Park itself.

Online reservations open mid-June.

The TRCA describes the Rouge Park as a place that provides “a continuous ecological corridor in the Toronto Area: combination of natural, cultural and agricultural features including 1,700 species of plants and animals, over 10,000 years of human history, along with some of the best remaining wetlands, forests and agricultural lands in the Greater Toronto Area.”
