Canada's big three 4G LTE networks were just tested against each other

National carrier Telus has secured OpenSignal’s top spot for 4G LTE network speeds in Canada, beating out Bell and Rogers.

According to OpenSignal’s August Mobile Networks Update, which examined nearly 678 million measurements across 31,762 devices from April 1 to June 29, 2018, while all three major Canadian carriers have received a big increase of 4G speed, Telus remains the lead operator.

Telus has the fastest 4G LTE speeds in the country, with average download speeds of 51.1 Mbps, making it the first Canadian operator to pass the 50 Mbps threshold in the national metrics.

OpenSignal also looked at Download Speed: 3G, Download Speed: Overall, Upload Speed: 4G, Latency: 4G, Latency: 3G, and Availability: 4G.

Telus placed in all categories, coming out on top in four categories and tying with Bell for three others.

Rogers, which is Canada’s largest carrier didn’t rank in any of the categories.
