Some people in Ottawa will be skating to and from work now.
The world’s largest naturally frozen skating rink just opened this week in Ottawa, and it’s already seen a fair share of skaters. The Rideau Canal Skateway is 7.8 kilometers long, and it stretches from the city’s downtown core to Dows Lake. It’s no wonder people use it to commute.
Besides Ottawans, thousands of visitors head to Ottawa each winter to skate this national treasure, which is free of charge. And of course, next month, Winterlude will take place all along the beautiful Skateway.
Getting FOMO yet? Enjoy these photos until that Ottawa road trip!
And of course, there are the beavertails.
