British comedian Ricky Gervais had some words for Toronto City Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti.
On Sunday, the controversial councillor tweeted about none other than religion and politics.
“End attack on Christians and other faiths,” wrote Mammoliti. “Voters should ask candidates whether they believe in a God and support those who DO. The lack of religious values in politics is why our children are killing each other. Religion and politics DO MIX. Let’s drive the devil out of Toronto!”
Within minutes, social media users were responding to Mammoliti’s tweet.
No, I found my mind like I found god

And less than 24 hours after his tweet, Gervais shared his thoughts when it came to religion and violence.
“Exactly,” he wrote back to Mammoliti. “People who believe in a god are never violent. That’s why there are no religious people in prison.”
Exactly. People who believe in a god are never violent. That’s why there are no religious people in prison. https://t.co/siDVibfyD0

While Mammoliti has under 2000 followers, Gervais has over 13 million.
Safe to say Mammoliti’s Twitter is probably giving him more notifications than usual today.
