Going with the theme of cute puppies, today is the 11th annual National Puppy Day – a time to celebrate the four legged friends in your life. Additionally, it’s a day to help save orphaned puppies around the globe and educate others about the horrors of puppy mills.
Founded in 2006 by celebrity pet and home lifestyle expert, Colleen Paige, National Puppy Day is now considered an international holiday, trending on Twitter every year since 2012. Paige has devoted her life to creating special days of recognition to improve the lives of animals and their owners.
And to help those who don’t get to feel the puppy love, Purina Puppy Chow is visiting five Torontonians at home today – with Portuguese Water Dog puppies in tow.

Yes, it’s for real. Purina Puppy Chow is spreading puppy love across the city today to lucky individuals who were nominated by their friends and family. By having a story shared on why they deserve a Random Act of Puppy, these Torontonians will be greeted by an epic group of furry four-legged friends.
If you didn’t win the warm and fuzzy prize, you can still celebrate on Snapchat with the Purina Puppy Chow lens for National Puppy Day. Get silly and use the lens to transform yourself into a furry friend.
In another kind puppy act, Purina Puppy Chow is offering a free puppy care/training class today for National Puppy Day from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. And the organization’s PawsWay’s basic agility class is also free from noon to 2 pm.
