Forbes has released its list of Canada’s Best Employers in 2017

Forbes has just released its Canada’s Best Employers 2017 list.

The massive list includes 300 employers from across the country, and this year, Ontario dominates the top 25.

In collaboration with online statistics provider Statista, Forbes collected its data in September by asking 8,000 Canadian employees working for large firms or institutions to rate their willingness to recommend their own companies on a scale of 1 to 10. The employees were surveyed anonymously through several online access panels.

Respondents were also asked to name good or bad employers in sectors or industries besides their own, according to Forbes. The top employers on the list represent 25 different industries in Canada.

Ranking in at number one is Kingston’s Queen’s University, jumping from its 17th place in 2016. Toronto Hydro came in third, jumping from its eighth place last year. Meanwhile, falling dramatically was Toronto-based Mercedes-Benz, which dropped to number 67 from 11th place in 2016.

Last year’s second place company, Vancity, a banking business based in Vancouver, fell to the 39th spot, and 2016’s best employer, Vancouver’s BC Hydro, sank to a 24th this year.
