Dîner en Blanc returns to a secret location in Toronto this summer

The dress code is all white, and strictly enforced; the list of things to bring is exhaustive, and you won’t even know where you’re going until the evening of the soiree.

Dinner en Blanc is the wildly popular annual event that finds hundreds of Torontonians gathering for an epic and visually stunning pop-up picnic.

Originating in Paris in 1988, Dinner en Blanc has become a global phenomenon that bills itself as an elegant and secret affair for epicureans. Automatic invitations are extended to returning guests and their referrals first, while interested attendees can otherwise add their name to a waitlist.

Confirmed guests are expected to BYO tables, chairs, white linens, and can opt to prepare their own “picnic basket comprising fine food and proper stemware and white dinnerware,” or opt for catered options featuring a menu provided by Food Dudes, and wine and champagne from Charlie’s Burgers Wine Program available for pick-up on site.

Per tradition (going on 30 years in Paris, six in Toronto), the location of the event is kept secret until the last minute and the spectacle goes on rain or shine.

Time to send your summery white outfit to the dry cleaners.
