Canada's original Christkindl Market returns to Ontario next month

Canada’s original Christkindl Market is back.

The annual holiday celebration has been taking over Kitchener’s City Hall since 1996, and this Christmas event is back on December 7.

Every Christmas since medieval times, towns and cities across Germany come alive with the sights, sounds and smells of Christmas. Ontario’s Kitchener brings those sights to us locally, and the celebration has expanded.

This year, the Christkindl Market will include more huts along King Street where visitors can enjoy Gluhwein, sweet and savoury food to eat on the spot or take home. Holiday visitors can also shop outside and inside from over 90 vendors while listening to choirs, bands and dance groups. Take in the train room, blacksmiths demonstrations, live nativity and take a photo with one of our folkloric characters.
