Costume shop staff at the Seattle Opera are making masks for healthcare workers

Apr 1 2020, 6:04 pm

It’s no secret that our healthcare workers are lacking the masks necessary to protect themselves from COVID-19. Providence Healthcare has been asking people to sew and donate masks, there have been numerous mask collection drives, and even large companies have donated masks to those in need.

Rather than making masks for characters at the opera, the costume shop staff at the Seattle Opera have begun focusing their efforts on masks for frontline healthcare workers.

The shop staff will direct their time towards making the protective equipment at the Opera Center under the direction of Providence Saint Joseph.

This is just one of the many efforts of Seattleites working to help ramp up mask production in the region.
