A spring snow warning is in effect for Montreal this weekend

Say it ain’t so…

Despite our recent report that temperatures will get up to 12 degrees next week (which is still true!), it appears that a cold front is moving in this weekend.

The Weather Network has issued a springtime snow weather alert. Montreal is expected to receive 5 cm of snow on Friday and 1-3 cm of snow on Saturday. Currently, Friday is calling for “scattered flurries,” while Saturday will see “light snow.”

More specifically, the scattered flurries are set to begin Friday morning, turning into wet snow by the afternoon and then mixed precipitation into the evening. However, as temperatures drop overnight, the snow will become heavier resulting in light snow by Saturday morning.

According to the Weather Network, this springtime snow is being caused by “a low pressure system from the midwest” making its way over Southern Quebec. Ultimately, snowfall between Friday and Saturday could total up to 10 centimetres.

Let’s just hope it all melts away quickly!
