A weather warning is officially in effect for Montreal.

Environment Canada upgraded its previous weather statement for the city to a full weather warning as up to 20 cm of snow will fall in Montreal on Tuesday morning.

The warning applies to the following regions:

  • Châteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area
  • Montréal Island area

“Snowfall amounts of 15 to 20 cm are expected in these regions beginning early Tuesday morning and continuing through Wednesday,” said Environment Canada.

“Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.”

According to The Weather Network, the storm is a result of a low-pressure system moving across the Great Lakes region.

“The system will progress eastward, with snow moving into Ottawa, Montreal, and Quebec City on Tuesday, which could become heavy snow into Wednesday,” said The Weather Network in a statement.

Ottawa and Montreal are likely to see more accumulation, and 20-30 cm are predicted by Wednesday.

It’s safe to say, winter has arrived!
