You can now take tours of Montreal's former Red Light district

Learn something new about our fair city.

Local tour company, Secret Montreal, is currently running “The Red Light of Montreal” tour, which teaches participants about the city’s indecent past.

“Montreal’s Quartier des Spectacles is now known as an exciting area for festivals and entertainment. But did you know that the most famous Red Light in North America once existed on the same site?”, the Secret Montreal website asks.

This one-of-a-kind attractions gives locals and tourists alike the chance to learn more about the Prohibition era when corruption prevailed and Montreal was at its peak as an “open city.”

If you’ve ever wanted to know more about our city’s history with gambling, burlesque, and drinking, now’s your chance!

During the summer months (between June 23 and September 4), tours are available every day of the week and in both English and French.

All tours are 90 minutes and leave at 8:30 pm from the Midway Tavern. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $19 for students. Click here to read more.
