The Great North American Solar Eclipse is taking place on August 21, 2017, but unfortunately, Montreal will only experience a partial eclipse. This means that only 58 per cent of the sun will be covered by the moon.
But if you miss this eclipse you don’t have to worry… for more than seven years at least. On April 8, 2024, which is when the next solar eclipse will occur, Montreal will be able to see the sun covered by the moon in its entirety.
According to Time and Date, Montrealers will be able to see 100% solar coverage during the 2024 eclipse at exactly 3:26 pm.
Get your eclipse fix this time around, but know that the real deal is coming to Montreal in seven years!
