The 8th edition of Montreal Comiccon is on this weekend from July 8th to the 10th at Palais des Congres and, this year, it’s going to be better than ever.

Why is that so, you ask?

Jason Rockman, the official Montreal Comiccon spokesperson told me that the guests alone are worth the trip down to 1001 Place Jean-Paul-Riopelle.

“Alfonso Ribeiro, known as Carlton, from Fresh Prince, will be there this year. Cary Elwes from the Princess Bride and David Lloyd, the artist behind the graphic novel V for Vendetta. I’m super stoked for all of those guys. I’m also really excited about Kate Mulgrew, from Orange is the New Black, and Michael Ironside, the ultimate villain. Robyn Lord Taylor, from Gotham, and Ryan Hurst, from Sons of Anarchy. We’ve got a lot that I’m amped for. Tom Felton, a.k.a Harry Potter’s ‘Draco Malfoy’, he has never been here before either, which is also really exciting.”

But, how can one successfully navigate the con in order to find these remarkable celebrities?

Easily.

This year, the people who annually organize the event, created a brand new app that you can download for free. It’s literally your new best friend for the weekend.

“It’s a pretty big deal because people can more easily plan their entire weekend on the Montreal Comiccon app,” Jason explained.

With the guests, the panels, the orchestra, the Cosplay ball, the comic vendors and the video game companies, you have nothing to lose by checking it out.

As a four year veteran of the con myself, the one thing can tell you this:

You don’t need to enjoy comics or be a straight up and down geek to enjoy Comiccon.

It’s literally the best place in Montreal to meet people and to dabble in pop culture.

“You don’t need to dress up in Cosplay to enjoy this event,” said Jason. “You just have to know how to have a good time with a bunch of really cool people.”
