The Prime Minister of Canada may reach new heights tonight as Justin Trudeau will visit Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu’s International Balloon Festival.
Located an easy 43 km off island, the balloon festival will top off a busy off-island Montreal day for Mr. Trudeau.
According to the Prime Minister’s daily itinerary, he will be at the Bibliothèque Guy-Bélisle in Saint-Eustache for the Canada Child Benefit before visiting a local food bank in Blainville.
The PM will then attend the largest gathering of balloons in Canada at 5:30 pm. Having already visited Montreal’s Italian Week festival, this marks the second time Trudeau has visited Quebec in the past two weeks.
In what started off as a balloon festival, Saint-Jean’s annual event has grown to host food vendors, bar outlets, live bands, theatre performances, activities and has garnered a solid reputation on an international scale. The event’s week-long showcase features hot air balloons from Canada, the United States, France and Brazil.
Justin Trudeau will be available for photos, but it is currently unknown if he will take a ride in one of the hot air balloons.
