Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Montreal.

While it will be mild and rainy today, and Friday the cold will be back for the weekend.

“A cold front will sweep across the areas from west to east on Friday. As it passes, the mercury will drop sharply to values more typical of winter. Rain will then change to snow,” said Environment Canada, in a statement.

The weather statement applies to the following regions:

  • Châteauguay – La Prairie area
  • Laval area
  • Longueuil – Varennes area
  • Montréal Island area

Saturday will dip down to -9℃ and snowfall is expected. And on Sunday it gets even colder as temperatures will reach -17℃.

“We are tracking the development of a new disturbance potentially more significant tracking up the American seaboard on Saturday. It will leave significant snowfall amounts over Southern, Central and Eastern Quebec. The snow could be mixed with ice pellets or freezing rain over the southernmost areas,” said Environment Canada.

Take advantage of today’s mild weather, Montreal. It won’t last for long.
