Let’s face it, there is never a bad time to eat poutine, especially when it comes to the morning. In addition to the classic potatoes, gravy, and cheese curds, breakfast poutines come with an array of yummy toppings like poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. If you’re already a lover of breakfast poutine or are simply intrigued by the notion, head on over to the five restaurants listed below to find the best breakfast poutine in the city.

L’Oeufrier is no amateur when it comes to breakfast poutines. With an entire page on their menu dedicated to the delicious dish, you’ll find more than enough options. One of our favourites is the “La Maria Emilia,” which comes with roasted potatoes, eggs, goat cheese, chorizo, peppers, onions, cheese curds, and hollandaise sauce. And if you’re looking for something a little fancier, “La du Canard, SVP!” breakfast poutine is made with roasted potatoes, eggs, duck confit, caramelized onions, mushrooms, cheese curds, and hollandaise sauce.

La Banquise

Open 24 hours, La Banquise offers delicious, unique, and massive portions of poutine day and night. But what some don’t know is that La Banquise has a completely separate breakfast menu full of amazing poutines. The basic breakfast poutine contains homemade potatoes, cheese curds, eggs, and gravy, but from there you can add an assortment of toppings ranging from mushrooms and onions to spicy sausage and bacon.

Faberge is the king of breakfast poutines. Their Poutine Matinale is made with home fries, caramelized onions and peppers, cheese curds, hollandaise sauce, and a poached egg. You also have the option of adding bacon, ham, sausage, or pulled pork for an extra $3. Talk about the breakfast of champs!

Petino’s serves up a classic breakfast poutine made with roasted home fries and topped with cheese curds and gravy. You can add meat to it if you like, but honestly this breakfast poutine is pretty great on its own. Say hello to delicious morning carbs!

Beaver Hall

This upscale restaurant located in downtown Montreal serves up a number of Quebec specialties. But by far the best item on the brunch menu is the breakfast poutine. Known as the BH Poutine, it contains roasted potatoes, cheese curds, pulled pork, gravy, a poached egg, two crispy slices of bacon, and hollandaise sauce.
