The borough of Plateau-Mont-Royal just announced a brand new initiative set to take hold this summer: a cooling station.

A unique installation will be set up on the east side of St-Denis between Marie-Anne and Duluth that will feature a 22-metre long misting rack, allowing pedestrians to cool off on hot summer days.

The cooling station, dubbed “The Wave”, is designed by Arcadia Studio and and going to cost the borough an estimated $127,000 in total.

Of the project, borough mayor Luc Ferrandez says, “The installation of this cool-down spot on Saint-Denis Street is a gesture of beauty and design. It renews the spirit of the public squares by offering a meeting area designed to take a break in the cool air, sit and enjoy urban life.”

The Wave is set to open to the public on June 15 and we can’t wait to test it out for ourselves!
