5 top speakers to see at the International Cannabis Business Conference

The third annual International Cannabis Business Conference is coming to Vancouver this month, to connect Canadian cannabis companies, experts, and those looking to enter the field.

Not only is the conference an opportunity to network with over 1,500 of the world’s top leaders in the emerging industry, it’s also a chance to hear from a lineup of incredible speakers talking about their experience in cannabis.

Some of the topics covered include California’s evolving cannabis industry, Vancouver and British Columbia’s regulations, the challenges for businesses and regulators, mergers and acquisitions, edibles, topicals, extracts, and more.

Here are five speakers to look out for at the conference, taking place September 16 at the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver:

Lori Ajax – Chief of the California Bureau of Cannabis Control

Lori Ajax was appointed Chief of the Bureau of Medical Cannabis Regulation on February 4, 2016, and has extensive experience in cannabis and alcohol regulation.

Ajax will be part of a keynote interview with Pasha Brands’ Jamie Shaw about regulating California’s evolving cannabis industry, and what lessons Canada can learn from California’s experiences.

John Salley – NBA champion, actor, entrepreneur, co-founder of Deuces 22 Premium Brands

A jack of many trades, Salley has had numerous careers and titles throughout his life, including now being a co-founder of Deuces 22 Premium Cannabis Brands.

On top of being a former athlete, actor and now entrepreneur, Salley is also a philanthropist, a wellness advocate, and a vegan, who will share his experiences and insight in his speech.

Jamie Shaw – Chief communication and culture officer, Pasha Brands

Jamie Shaw, chief communications and culture officer for Pasha Brands will be interviewing Lori Ajax in the keynote interview at the conference. She is also a partner of Groundwork Consulting, director of the BC Independent Cannabis Association, and advisor to NICHE Canada.

Shaw’s lobbying efforts led to dispensary licensing in multiple BC municipalities, and her writing on cannabis issues can be found in various publications.

John Conroy – Principal at Conroy & Company

Conroy is a Barrister and Solicitor with his own law firm based in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

Beyond his extensive career in prison and legal services, he has also received extensive recognition and awards including the Liberty Award by the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association for Excellence in Legal Advocacy, In 2015 the Ed McIsaac Human Rights in Corrections Award.

Conroy has been involved in numerous cannabis cases throughout his career and has appeared before parliamentary and senate committees, and in the Supreme Court of Canada.

Nic Easley – CEO of 3C Comprehensive Cannabis Consulting

Nic Easley is CEO of 3C Comprehensive Cannabis Consulting, and managing director of Multiverse Capital, with over 15 years of agricultural field.

In his talk on public and private international cannabis investment strategies, Easley will demonstrate how to thoroughly vet opportunities while reducing risk to ensure international feasibility.
