BC makes over 10k online cannabis sales in 48 hours

BC residents flocked to the provinces online platform at 12:01 am on October 17 to score some legal bud.

According to a rep from the BC Liquor Distribution Branch (they’re responsible for the BC Cannabis Store), 9,175 transactions were placed on day 1, followed by  2,563 transactions on October 18.

As of this morning, online cannabis sales totalled 11,738.

The BC Cannabis Store in Kamloops, currently the province’s only legal storefront, served 805 people on October 17, 521 people on October 18, for a total of 1,326.

According to a statement by Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General Mike Farnworth, 1000 sales were made online in the first hour that the government site was live.

At this time, the BC LDB is not releasing the total value of products sold.

As anticipated, there are supply shortages being reported, with all capsules being sold out within hours, as well as several oils, pre-rolls, and dried flower.
