Light up the night at this lantern festival in Edmonton next weekend

Mar 11 2020, 5:50 pm

If you’re looking for some outdoor fun in Edmonton, what better way than by lighting up the night sky with some hand-made lanterns?

On Saturday, March 21, Glow Festival is coming to Edmonton, to bring some colour to the city and liven up Boyle Street for the Spring Equinox.

Edmontonians are invited to come together as a community and make handmade lanterns ahead of the festival, before a walking parade weaves through the streets to take in the enormous animated lantern floats.

Lantern-making workshops will be held at CO*LAB in Edmonton on the evenings of March 17 to 20 from 5 to 9 pm.

The festival itself takes place on March 21, from 7:30 to 9:30 pm, and then After Glow will kick off, featuring interactive art displays, DJs, art installations, backyard fire pits, and more, including drinks available for purchase.

The winner of the homemade lantern contest will be announced at 10 pm.

Get your glow on, Edmonton!
