7 unique Stampede Breakfasts you need to check out

Stampede is almost upon us, and that means scrumptious breakfasts galore! No better way to shake your hangover than with a greasy offering of pancakes, eggs and bacon! But if the standard Stampede breakfast spread isn’t appealing to you anymore, here is a list of breakfast offerings with a bit of a twist!

The 20th Annual Ismaili Muslim Stampede Breakfast

A Stampede breakfast with some East African flair is bound to intrigue! Enjoy a unique menu along with live entertainment, some “midway” games for the kids and see an award winning Stampede Parade float.

Where: The Ismaili Muslim Jamatkhana and Centre – 1128 45th Avenue NE
When: Saturday, July 9; 7:30 to 11 am
Cost: Free

Wendy T’s Gluten-Free Stampede Breakfast

This is another gluten free event that promises to have a distinctly unique menu for its’ Stampede breakfast. There will be a performance by musician Alex Hughes and Shine FM’s “Children Fun Crew” will be there to entertain the little ones.

Where: Marda Loop Community Center (3130 16 Street SW)
When: Saturday, July 9 from 9 to 11 am
Cost: Free for CCA members, $5 per person or $10 per family

AGAHAN: First Stampede “All Filipino” Breakfast

With the growing Filipino food craze hitting Calgary, it only makes sense to have a Stampede breakfast fit that theme. In addition to a traditional Pinoy breakfast, there will be live Pinoy music blasting all morning.

Where: Pacific Hut Parking Lot – 3231 17th Avenue SE
When: Sunday July, 10 from 7 to 10 am
Cost: Free

X92.9 Not So Stampede Breakfast

The name says it all! The X Mornings team, along with Carl’s Jr. will be serving breakfast to the first 200 people that come down to the X92.9 studios. Any time Carl’s Jr. is involved with breakfast, it’s bound to be a guilty pleasure.

Where: X92.9 Studios – 255 17 Avenue SW
When: Monday, July 11 at  7 am
Cost: Free

The 3rd Annual Amber Approved Stampede Breakfast

If you struggle to find a breakfast that will agree with your waistline, then this is the one. Teaming up with Executive Chef Jan Hansen, the menu features unique breakfast items that are gluten, sugar, and dairy free.

Where: Hotel Arts – 119 12th Avenue SW
When: Wednesday, July 13 from 7 to 10 am
Cost: $50, with silent auction proceeds going to Meals on Wheels and for McMurray Fire Victims.

The 2nd Annual Minas Stampede Breakfast

Eau Claire’s favourite churrascaria restaurant is bringing back their Brazilian themed Stampede breakfast for another year. While the standard pancakes and eggs will be offered, Minas will also be offering the not so traditional Baiao de dois (rice with beans) and freshly roasted pork loin or ham, along with other treats like mini donuts!

Where: Minas Brazilian Steakhouse (136 2 Street SW)
When: Wednesday, July 13 from 9 to 11 am
Cost: $2 donation or a non-perishable food item, proceeds to the Calgary Food Bank.

Pho Down 2016

You’d be hard pressed to travel through Calgary’s restaurant scene without stumbling on some delectable Vietnamese restaurants. So time to swap out the traditional stack of pancakes for an aromatic bowl of Pho! There will also be a spring roll eating competition as well as some Vietnamese artists and performers entertaining the crowds.

Where: Albert Park Radisson Heights Community Centre – 1210 28 Street SW
When: Saturday, July 16 from 11 am to 2 pm
Cost: Donation of your choice, with proceeds going to Alex Community Food Centre
