Pie Cloud has closed: "It's been a slice..."

One of Calgary’s favourite little spots for comfort eats and epic pies has closed for good. Kensington’s Pie Cloud announced January 10 that they were packing it in.

So devoted to pie was Pie Cloud that their menu centred on pies of the sweet and savoury variety, and their address (314 10th Avenue NW) even had the same numerals as “pi,” making word and math geeks giggle.

The beloved Calgary pie shop went full throttle over the holidays, baking up an array of pies themed to the “Twelve Days of Christmas,” as well as their tantalizing “Turkey Dinner in a Pie.”

Among their whimsical creations was their signature and “sublime” Marshmallow Mermaid Pie.

Pie Cloud shared the following statement on their Facebook page:

“It’s been a slice … but Pie Cloud is now closed.
Huge thanks to our wonderful guests & dear friends for making our time in Kensington so enjoyable.
Please continue to follow us on social media for on-going pie and dessert ideas, assorted foodie fun and updates about a future location, after suitable pie-cation.
Help us welcome to this great space a well-known, highly talented chef and his partners, who will be opening an awesome new restaurant very shortly.”

In a follow-up post the next day, Pie Cloud reiterated that the best way to keep tabs on where to find them next would be via social media, so don’t unfollow them on Instagram if you want to find out where you can go to get your Pie Cloud pies from here on out.
