Construction of Calgary's largest mall nearing completion
Calgary’s biggest mall is getting closer to its opening day.
The biggest multicultural mall in the Calgary area, with over 500 outlets, New Horizon Mall will be welcoming its store owners as they start readying their purchased retail spaces.
New Horizon Mall will be the first mall in Alberta where every storefront is purchased by individuals, being bought and sold like condos. These retail spaces may be owner-operated or leased out to a retailer by the owner.
“The New Horizon Mall is a unique addition to Calgary’s vibrant entrepreneurial retail landscape,” said Eli Swirsky, president of Torgan Group, in a release.
“Smaller businesses have long wanted access to the same kind of shopping mall environment and the corresponding customer base enjoyed by larger businesses. This mall breaks down the barriers for businesses looking for that retail advantage in a unique mall environment not found anywhere else in southern Alberta.”

The mall’s doors will be open on May 1 for owners to begin occupying their units.
Daily Hive reached out to New Horizon Mall’s media correspondent to find out when the mall will be open to the public, and they stated that an official opening date is unavailable, but it will occur once all of the stores are finished setting up.
The mall’s multicultural shopping experience will be matched by entertainment just as diverse, as a main stage will provide a venue for cultural events, holiday celebrations, and fashion shows.
A unique food court will feature 26 restaurants where visitors will have the opportunity to try out a variety of local and international dishes from dozens of owner-operated food vendors.
