Loblaws has issued a Canada-wide recall for uncooked shrimp

Loblaws and Health Canada have issued a Canada-wide recall regarding their bags of pre-cooked shrimp.

Their packages of “56/65 Shrimp per lb” has been pulled from shelves due to the potential presence of raw shrimp – which may contain harmful bacteria.

The product was carried and sold at the following Loblaws banner stores:

Ontario: Fortinos, Independent, Loblaws, No Frills, Real Canadian Superstore, Valu-Mart, Wholesale Club, Zehrs and affiliated independent stores.

Atlantic: Atlantic Superstore, Dominion, Independent, No Frills, Wholesale Club, and affiliated independent stores.

Québec: Club Entrepôt, Maxi, Maxi & Cie, Provigo, Provigole Marché and affiliated independent stores.

West: Extra Foods®, No Frills®, Real Canadian Superstore®, Wholesale Club®, Independent® and affiliated independent stores.

While there are no reports of illness due to the recalled product as of yet, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency is conducting an investigation. Other products may also be at risk, more to come as their investigation continues.

If you have this product in your household, check for the following code on the packaging and UPC:

If you believe that you’ve become sick due to consumption of the recalled product, you’re urged to call your doctor.

If you still have the recalled product in your household, you should either throw the product away immediately or return them to the store it was purchased.
