Frenchie Wine Bar: Secret drinking den opens on 17th Avenue

Aug 9 2016, 2:37 am

Frenchie Wine Bar: A French-themed wine bar with a ‘secret’ entrance located right behind UNA Takeaway has opened along 17th Avenue.

This intimate hide-away has been brought to life by the BMeX Restaurant Group, creators of UNA Pizza + Wine, Ox and Angela, Native Tongues, and the recently launched UNA Takeaway.

Reminiscent of a turn of the 19th century French wine bar (think a gorgeous hand-carved bar and a spectacular vintage crystal chandelier), the 350 square foot, 15 seater space is tiny, comfortable, and quintessentially European. Opting for no technology, customers at Frenchie Wine Bar can expect to find handwritten paper bills.

Focusing on biodynamic, organic, and natural wines from small producers, Frenchie Wine Bar offers a well curated French wine list that is constantly rotating.

Food wise, Frenchie Wine Bar offers made in-house charcuterie and locally-sourced cheese (Janice Beaton and Peasant), along with made in-house accompaniments.

Frenchie Wine Bar is open seven days a week from 5 pm until 1 am. Until 10 pm, guests can enter via UNA Takeaway. After 10 pm diners should talk to the host at UNA Pizza + Wine for a table.
