Anyone’s who has lived in Calgary long enough knows what it’s like to float lazily down the Bow River, and with temperatures getting up to 36°C during the summer around here, we really don’t blame them.

But have you ever wondered what the Bow River is like a little further upstream?

YouTuber Toddtravel4k must’ve had that same curiosity, as they decided to take on the river between Banff and Canmore with nothing but a kayak, a life jacket, a partner, and (luckily for us) a video camera.

The trip took the two kayakers past green forests, sprawling mountains, and a stunningly blue sky. According to the video’s description, it was a solid four hours (that’s including a 30-minute lunch break, of course) from Bow Falls to Canmore, where the adventurers had left a second car for the return journey.

“A great adventure for anyone to enjoy,” says the poster in the description.

Check out the trip in the video below to get an idea of what floating the Bow looks like a bit closer to the Rocky Mountains.
