If you haven’t noticed, it’s freezing outside.
Environment Canada has issued a cold weather alert for Calgary.
“A prolonged period of very cold wind chills is expected. Extreme cold conditions are expected to continue through the weekend,” said Environment Canada in a statement.
Today’s high is -24°C but with the wind chill it will feel like -42°C. Tonight, temperatures will feel like -40°C.
“Extreme cold puts everyone at risk. Watch for cold related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes,” said Environment Canada.
“Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. If it’s too cold for you to stay outside, it’s too cold for your pet to stay outside.”
Stay warm out there, Calgary!
