Canadian figure skater Meagan Duhamel is doing a lot more than just winning a gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Duhamel is also working to save dogs from the meat trade in South Korea as she is passionate about animal welfare, and has her own vegan health and wellness blog.

Last year, the 32-year-old skater rescued a dog from South Korea that was headed for a meat farm.

Duhamel’s pup, Mootae, is a miniature dachshund and she loves showing him off on Instagram.

Mootae is currently at home waiting for Duhamel to come back with hopefully another medal win.

According to reports, the skater has also rescued and sent another South Korean dog home to Canada, saving it from the meat trade.

Humane Society International reports that over 2.5 million dogs are annually reared on thousands of dog meat farms across South Korea.
