The first weekend of November is here, and we’ve got the rundown on great events happening in Calgary! From New Central Library’s Lit Gala to Jack White, here are 25 things to do from Friday, November 2 to Sunday, November 4.

Field of Crosses

What: At sunrise each morning from November 1 to November 11 members of the public are invited to attend a formal flag raising ceremony at the Field of Crosses.  where over 3,400 white crosses are displayed each year on November 1 and removed November 12. Each cross is inscribed with the name, rank, regiment, date of death and age at death of a Southern Alberta soldier killed in action. As part of these ceremonies local schools participate in the singing of our national anthem.  A special Remembrance Day ceremony will be held on November 11.

New Central Library’s Lit Gala 2018

What: Juno Award-winning Tegan and Sara will be the keynote speakers at the Lit Gala, a fundraising event happening on November 2. Originally from Calgary, the artists will provide a local perspective in their speech, and will then play a short acoustic show for all those who attend. The Lit Gala will include additional performances, unique food, and engaging exhibits that will offer a different experience on every level of the brand new building. The money raised will be used to provide free access to innovation and creative thought leadership in the city.

TEDxCalgary Navigators 2018

What: The navigators will lead the way through an eventful day of thought-provoking insights and stunning performances, while attendees will also have access to the participant engagement zone where they can discuss the ideas presented with other attendees. The entire event will be in for a musical treat from Notas de 4, a fusion of Flamenco, Latin American, and Canadian jazz music.

New Central Library Grand Opening

Calgary Moms Trade Fair

What: The 27th Calgary Moms Trade Fair features the latest in local products and services for mom, baby and family. From new brands and businesses that have recently launched, to the latest mompreneur inventions and gadgets, to the all-time favourites. There will also be mascots, face painting and more entertainment on site. Admission goes to support the Calgary Food Bank.
