5 cool exhibitors you need to see at the Calgary Home + Garden Show

Jan 26 2017, 1:26 am

However faint it may be, spring is finally in the air.

We’ve passed the dead of winter. Thoughts of warmer months are floating around our snow-covered gardens and back porches. So even though we may not be able to enjoy our backyards right now, our anticipation has heightened as we eagerly wait for the ice to finally melt.

The Calgary Home + Garden Show is joining in on that anticipation with its annual event.

The show will take place from March 2 to 5, and has been a huge success in past years – last year more than 60,000 people came to the show. Visitors will listen to celebrity guests sharing home renovation and landscaping advice, hear stories from local renovators, and check out more than 650 different vendors and exhibitors.

Of course, no one has time to check out all 650 exhibitors. That’s why we put together a list of five exhibitors you definitely won’t want to miss.

Uncommon Wine Rooms

If you’re someone who loves their wine, then you’ll definitely want to check out Uncommon Wine Rooms – even if it’s just to oggle at their creations. Uncommon Wine Rooms specializes in building elaborate wine rooms that will not only keep your collection safe, but also showcase your wines in style. They include integrated climate control to keep your wines at their best, and create original designs that will fit your home along with your wine collection.

Rustic Ranch

Not everything is about gardening at the Calgary Home + Garden Show – some of it is just there to help you spruce up your current place. And that’s exactly what Rustic Ranch offers. It sells handcrafted furniture and decor that’s completely unique. You can get armoires made from reclaimed barn wood, silver doorknobs, and an antler chandelier – basically anything you need to turn your house into a quaint cabin in the woods.

Living Green Workshops presented by Blue Grass Garden Centre

Got the Alberta winter blues? Bring a touch of spring into your home and get your hands (just a little) dirty making your own trendy terrarium or shadow box planter. The experts from Blue Grass Garden Centre will demonstrate how to build your very own indoor garden with compatible plants and materials from start to finish. Register for a workshop in the Corral and you’ll get first-hand instruction while making your very own terrarium.

Suncoast Enclosures

Suncoast Enclosures is an exhibitor you have to see because they can let you extend spring throughout the year. The Alberta company can screen or glass in your porch so it stays warm and snow-free all year long. It creates an extra room to your house, but because the walls are transparent, it feels like you’re outside. They can also just add screen walls to an existing covered porch, or put a louvered roof over your deck.

Babbling Brooks

Waterfall/Babbling Brooks

It’s not always easy to access gorgeous water when you’re in the suburbs or the city, so why not build your own in your backyard? Babbling Brooks actually creates ponds and waterfalls that fit into your home. They have two versions of custom waterfalls you can choose from, but they can also make a pond that fits naturally into the Albertan ecosystem. This one uses only indigenous plants and rocks, so your backyard pond will be environmentally friendly.
