The Calgary concert scene is jam-packed of nostalgia this May.

From 80s staple punk bands to some of your favourite mainstream high school tunes, you’ll find it all this month in YYC.

The Descendants

The acclaimed old-school punk band The Descendants – whose ’82 Milo Goes to College album has been called one of the most influential punk albums to date – will draw both the seasoned set of punk-lovers and college kids who discovered the band years beyond their heyday.

JoJo

American pop singer-songwriter JoJo – you may recall her mega hits of the early 2000s “Too Little Too Late” and “Leave (Get Out)” that you probably sang in the shower – will make a stop in Calgary for her high-energy Mad Love tour. If you’re looking for a pop-filled dance party, you’ll find it here.

Everclear, Vertical Horizon and Fastball

If you’re craving a serious blast from the past to kick off the summer, you’ll find it in the music of Everclear as they celebrate the 20 anniversary of So Much For The Afterglow (right?!) with a tour alongside equally as nostalgic guests Vertical Horizon and Fastball.

Needtobreathe

The Grammy-nominated rock group Needtobreathe – which is on the cusp of mainstream notoriety and just featured Andrea Day in their latest music video – brings their soulful, empowering sounds to Calgary.

The Shins

After a 5-year career break, The Shins will hit Calgary in support of their recently released album Heartworms – so if you can’t make it to Osheaga to check them out, now is your chance.

The Head and the Heart

If indie folk is more your thing, The Head and the Heart is fresh from Coachella and in town to help your Sunday Funday cause. You may recognize their song “All We Ever Know,” which became the band’s first #1 hit on alternative radio.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers

The rock veterans who were once a Discman staple are on tour to support their chart-topping latest album (their 11 studio album), The Getaway. This is the band’s first full tour since 2014.
