For Korean-style fried chicken, Calgary has a lot of love for Yum Yum BBQ Chicken. It’s got a simple menu of fried chicken options, though the go-to is their signature Shallot fried chicken. You can get affordable combos of chicken and fries, or get other Korean dishes, like Beef Bulgogi on rice. There are a few locations of this no frills chicken biz, though the original is located in Airdrie.

Kim Chi Korean Delight
This chain with two Alberta mall locations is based in Quebec, and focused on bringing healthy, fast, casual Korean fare to the masses. They’ve got a spot in Market Mall in Calgary, where they serve up their menu of noodle soups, BBQ dishes, as well as rice and noodle dishes, cooked to order at the spice level of your choosing.

Kim Chi House
Not to be confused with the other Kim Chi, Kim Chi House is known for their stone bowl bibimbap. Totally food court vibes, but a solid menu of meat-meets-rice style dishes offering a taste of Korea for not a lot of money. Speaking of money, heads up, this is a cash only joint.

Koryo Korean Barbeque
Launched in Calgary, based in Quebec, Koryo is a staple in four provinces, with 15 mall locations for their affordable, fast KBBQ eats. On the menu are traditional BBQ meats, like short ribs and chicken, served with rice and sides, like kimchi, pasta salad, or fried zucchini slices.

Soyummy Factory
This small family-run cash-only business focuses on Korean-style snack foods. Watch them make your food, too, like their Kim Bap, rice cakes, or red bean cakes, or the harder-to-find soondae (similar to blood sausage).
