Approximately 300,000 people descended on downtown Vancouver on Sunday to catch a glimpse of St. Nick at the 16th annual TELUS presents Vancouver Santa Claus Parade.

The procession began at noon and wound its way around the city’s core on a route stretching 1.8 kms. There were more than 2,500 participants, including over 40 marching bands, choirs, floats, and community groups.

ā€œOn behalf of our organizing committee, our participants and our spectators, I want to thank TELUS for their generous support which makes the parade possible,ā€ said Jessica Walker, president of the Vancouver Santa Claus Parade Society, in a statement.

ā€œI also want to thank the many other companies, organizations, volunteers and participants that make this parade such a wonderful holiday tradition.ā€
