New year-round flights from Vancouver to Shenzhen

Jan 23 2018, 7:13 am

Vancouver will have another flight connection to a major Mainland Chinese destination starting this spring.

Hainan Airlines announced Monday it will be commencing a new twice-weekly flight service between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX) in Shenzhen, located immediately north of Hong Kong.

The service, scheduled to launch on May 25, 2018, will make one stop at Tianjin Binhai International Airport (TSN) in Tianjin, which is a coastal city southeast of Beijing.

Flights on the route will use an Airbus 330 aircraft with 260 economy class seats and 32 business class seats, with flights departing YVR at 11:30 am and arriving at TSN at 2:15 pm and SZX at 7:45 pm the next day.

With the addition of Hainan Airlines, YVR will be served by a total of eight airlines that fly to Mainland China – not including the three airlines that serve routes to Hong Kong. The route is also the first service to fly between Canada and Shenzhen and Tianjin.

“We are delighted to announce this new service from Shenzhen to Vancouver via Tianjin at the beginning of the China-Canada Tourism Year,” said Jichun Liu, Vice President of Hainan Airlines, in a statement.

“Following our Toronto-Beijing and Calgary-Beijing routes, this new Vancouver service demonstrates Hainan Airlines’ confidence in the China-Canada civil aviation market. The new route will provide passengers with more travel options and convenience. It will also further strengthen the economic, educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries.”
