Police investigating serious stabbing in Downtown Eastside

A serious stabbing incident has sent one man to hospital in critical condition.

According to Vancouver Police, the incident occurred just after 11 am today when an altercation in the south lane of West Hastings Street near Abbott Street in the Downtown Eastside led to a stabbing.

The victim, who appears to be in his 30s, was rushed to hospital.

“Although it is very early in the investigation and no arrests have been made, detectives from the VPD Major Crime Section do not believe this stabbing was random. There is no risk to the general public,” reads a release.
