The first Saturday of March is here, and there’s lots to experience in Vancouver! From I Heart Tulips to Romeo + Juliet, here are 10 things to do today, March 7.

I Heart Tulips

What: The second annual I Heart Tulips event celebrates the arrival of spring by filling Metropolis at Metrotown’s Grand Court with 14,000 multicolour tulips arranged in multiple heart shapes. Made by the creators of the Chilliwack Tulip Festival, the installation will be viewable from all three levels of the mall from 10 am to 11 am. Following that, tulips will be available for picking at eight stems for $5 or 20 stems for $10.

Proceeds from the installation will go to Variety — the Children’s Charity, an organization that has been providing direct help to BC children with special needs for more than 50 years. I Heart Tulips will also include plenty of tulip photo-ops including life-sized photo frames, a replica mini flower stand, and an adorable tulip-filled baby carriage. Take-home Polaroids are available for an additional donation.

Brad Paisley

What: Country superstar Brad Paisley has 24 number one hits, Grammys, and Academy of Country Music Awards to his name. He brings his 2020 world tour to Abbotsford Centre on March 7.

I Am Woman! Hear Me Laff!

What: I Am Woman! Hear Me Laff! is a comedy showcase featureing headliner Susan Rice, Helen Schneiderman, Molly Wilson, and emcee Nic Enright-Morin.

VASS Cup & Snowfest

What: The 2020 VASS Cup & Snowfest is a fundraiser for Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports, which provides ski and snowboard programs for people with disabilities. There will be a full and fun afternoon of activities for all abilities at Grouse Mountain.

Romeo + Juliet

What: Ballet BC presents the tragic love story of Romeo + Juliet with score by Sergei Prokofiev and choreography by Medhi Walerski.

HSBC Canada Sevens

What: Once a year, BC Place transforms for the ultimate weekend sports event that feels more like a music festival: HSBC Canada Sevens. The Canada Sevens will be taking over BC Place Stadium for two days of rugby action, for the only Canadian stop on the World Rugby Sevens Series tour. Outrageous costumes are highly encouraged.

Celtic Fest

What: Museum of Surrey hosts Celtic Fest, with Celtic crafts, scavenger hunt, live entertainment, community booths from groups with Celtic connections, and more.

Pacific Spirit Quilters’ Guild Expo

What: Pacific Spirit Quilters Guild present an expo at Edmonds Community Centre. See completed quilts from guild members, check out the live demonstration room, and take part in the children or adult quilting activities.

Coquitlam Craft Beer Festival

What: Coquitlam Craft Beer Festival showcases over 50 craft breweries, cider houses, and distilleries at Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club on March 7. Admission includes all beverage samples, and Taps & Tacos Food Truck will be serving food. The festival will also be operating a free shuttle to and from the venue from the Lafarge Lake-Douglas Skytrain station.
