10 things to do in Vancouver this week: July 6 to 12

Forget about the dreary weather of June. It’s time to get out and enjoy the second week of July — while physically distancing and following health and safety protocols, of course.

What: PawSwap is hosting a safe way to reunite with fellow dog owners, enjoy some of Vancouver’s finest coffee, and treat your pup at the same time. Beginning at Prado Cafe in Kitsilano, this activity will start off with a fresh cup of drip coffee and individually wrapped pastry, followed by a 20-minute dog-walk on Kits Beach where Sweet Spot Ice Cream Parlour will be waiting to hand out doggy ice cream. Also included in the $25 ticket price is a swag bag full of treats put together with love by the PawSwap team.

What: In a release, Metro Vancouver notes that visitors “should be prepared for a different hiking experience” when visiting the popular North Vancouver destination, and they have laid out a number of health and safety guidelines. Those who use the Skyride to return to the trailhead must reserve a time in advance online.
When: Monday to Sunday
Time: Gate opens at 7 am and closes at 7:30 pm

Central City Fun Park

What: Enjoy a number of attractions at Central City Fun Park including mini-golf, rollerblading, an arcade, and a new form of bowling. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the fun space will be operating at reduced occupancy from 300 to 40 persons. As an extra precaution, there will be an enforced use of masks by all guests. Face masks will be provided if needed. Tickets are $20 and must be purchased prior to arrival. Tickets include a designated entrance time and $20 Fun Card. Guests are allowed to stay a maximum of two hours, and access is limited to 20 people per hour.

Visit the Vancouver Aquarium

What: The Vancouver Aquarium has reopened, following a closure of more than three months. All admissions from reopening will support the aquarium, which is facing bankruptcy due to the difficult financial situation it finds itself in as a result of the pandemic. A number of added health and safety measures have been implemented for visitors. For starters, the aquarium will have an initial visitor capacity of 20% to 30%.

Time: Check the website for available ticket times: First time slot 9:30 am; last time slot 3:30 pm.
