Vancouver artists show love for Canada's top doctors with beautiful murals
Over the past few days, a boarded-up shopfront in Vancouver’s Gastown neighbourhood has been transformed with colourful murals of Canada’s top doctors leading the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The paintings of Dr. Theresa Tam, Chief Public Health Officer of Canada and Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer of BC, can be found outside of Kimprints Custom Framing and Gifts at 41 Powell Street.

Breece Austin, the Vancouver artist who painted Dr. Tam, tells Daily Hive her friend, Abi Taylor worked on the mural of Dr. Hennry.

Autin explains the owner of Kimprints, Kim Briscoe, got in touch with her and they agreed to collaborate on the project. Austin says Briscoe is currently looking for another artist to work on a mural of Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Provincial Health Officer of Alberta.

The country’s top doctors have garnered a tremendous wave of support over the past few months, as they continue to work around the clock to provide Canadians with the most up-to-date information about the pandemic.

Calgary artist Mandy Stobo created three portraits of Canadian public health heroines, which are available on t-shirts, Toronto’s Dr. Eileen de Villa has a social media account dedicated to her scarves, and Dr. Bonnie Henry even has her own fan club.
