Trump Tower renamed 'Dump' Tower on Google Maps in Vancouver and NYC
It may have been short-lived, but the temporary name change this weekend of an iconic building in New York, and a contentious building in Vancouver, did not go unnoticed.
For a few hours, those using Google Maps to find Trump Tower in both cities were out of luck. Instead, they were shown “Dump Tower.”
The newly constructed Trump Tower in Vancouver has been the site of anti-Donald Trump protests, while the Fifth Avenue location New York is Trump headquarters and home of the new president-elect.

In a statement, Google said some “inappropriate names were surfacing in Google Maps that should not be, and we apologize for any offense this may have caused. Our teams immediately took action and have fixed the issue.”
Both names were changed back to normal by Sunday morning.
