The biggest day of the year for us Canadians is fast-approaching and like any big celebration, you need to have your game plan organized ahead of time.

On Sunday, July 1, the City of Surrey‘s annual Canada Day event is taking place at the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre in Cloverdale and it’s going to be huge.

In fact, it’s expected to be one of the largest Canada Day events in Western Canada with over 100,000 due to attend throughout the day.

Did we mention that it’s free to attend?

And this year’s event is hosting co-headlining acts Canadian singer-songwriters, Serena Ryder and Brett Kissel.

Gates open at 10 am so you can spend the entire day enjoying amusement rides, the Indigenous Village, drone racing, interactive activities, food trucks, as well as three stages of live music and performances.

Toque, Warren Dean Flandez, DJ Flipout, The Faceplants, and Krystle Dos Santos, are just some of the additional acts due to perform at the event. New to Surrey Canada Day this year is the Tim Hortons Maple Leaf Stage where you’ll get to see performances by emerging Meto Vancouver talent.

Surrey Honda is back again this year and they’re giving away a 2018 Honda Civic. Visit their booth to enter; the winner will be announced live on CTV News at 6 pm.

Then when 10:30 pm rolls around you can find a spot on the grass to take in the spectacular fireworks show as it illuminates the sky above you.

“Our annual Canada Day celebration draws record crowds from throughout the Lower Mainland to experience the best in Canadian entertainment here in Surrey,” Mayor Linda Hepner said in a press release.

“This year I am proud to present our first ever co-headline performance. I want to extend an open invitation to our residents and visitors to come to celebrate our national pride and community spirit at Surrey’s Canada Day celebration.”
