The Ultimate Vancouver Brunch Guide: La Brasserie

Jun 15 2016, 11:11 am

We’re taking a tasty tour of Vancouver’s many brunches to create The Ultimate Vancouver Brunch Guide. This week we’re enjoying a relaxed late-morning meal at La Brasserie.

One of the West End’s most beloved weekend brunches is back. After a lengthy hiatus, La Brasserie has re-launched its popular brunch service.

Not since August 2014 has the European-style bistro, famed for its Franco-German eats, welcomed Vancouver’s brunch crowd through its doors.

Back in the brunch game, La Brasserie has something unique to offer its guests for this adored breakfast/lunch hybrid. Indeed, many of La Brasserie’s dishes take their cue from the restaurant’s Franco-German roots.

Options include the Chicken Mornay Crêpes (featuring pulled rotisserie chicken, mushrooms, a rich Mornay sauce, and Gruyère), and the Breakfast Poutine, which offers a fresh take on the Canadian favourite and features the standard fries, gravy, and cheese curds, with the addition of bacon, a poached egg, and a creamy Hollandaise sauce.

More gastronomic treats include the Brasserie Burger, which is more of a feat for diners who actually manage to polish the whole thing off. This hearty and towering beast is loaded with ground hanger steak, white cheddar, bacon, crispy onions, and truffled aioli. A side of frites completes this gratifying dish.

Speaking of sides, La Brasserie also offers a small but mighty range of accompanying plates, like crispy bacon, poached eggs, mixed greens, frites, a fresh baguette, and a bowl of roasted potatoes, which go incredibly well with the restaurant’s house-made ketchup.

Drink wise, La Brasserie serves a variety of suitably boozy brunch libations, including a sparkling grapefruit mimosa and the Brasserie Caesar, which help ensure that a leisurely weekend meal be had.
