The Park Sound Youth Workshop is a 4-week program for up to 5 students (ages 13-17) that will run on a monthly basis. The goal is to teach high school students the ins and outs of music production and the recording industry in a professional studio environment.
Throughout the program, we will cover a wide variety of topics, including the basics of recording and mixing techniques, microphone placement and application, the positions and roles within the recording industry, and an introduction into digital recording. All of these topics will intertwine with recording a song from start to finish with world class musicians.
The recording process is such a vital part of the music industry, but it's often the most misunderstood. There is ample opportunity to take music lessons and to hone in your craft, but when you’re in high school, learning about music production doesn’t amount to much more than YouTube tutorials. Not only will this workshop provide youth with real studio experience, but it will also act as a stepping-stone to those thinking about taking music production as a post-secondary program.
The goal of the Park Sound Youth Workshop is to be an inclusive, engaging and inspiring entry point for students wanting to learn about music production in a recording studio environment.
