Air Stranger + Guests // The Railway Stage & Beer Café

The Live Agency + Live Acts Canada presents:

Air Stranger with special guests Faspa, Cassandra Maze and Christopher Goodchild

Air Stranger (Vancouver) //

Air Stranger is a group whose musical style emerges from the conjunction of funk and progressive rock. It is at this unique crossroads where the band synthesizes their seemingly disparate influences, merging the technical intricacies of Victor Wooten and Guthrie Govan with the harmonic progressions of John Coltrane and Danny Elfman. They then superimpose these concepts over the backdrop of contagious grooves reminiscent of James Brown and Rage Against the Machine.

Seb Chamney contributes solos of virtuosic flare and progressions of harmonic boldness. Our vocalist Guy Wilkins enraptures audiences with his rich baritone voice and vocal runs. The grooves and backdrop provided by brothers Eric and Colin Sankey govern the rhythmic direction of the piece, grounding the musicians playing over them, whilst compelling the audience to incessantly tap their feet. Air Stranger's ultimate goal is to merge a variety of musical idioms whilst delivering keen lyrical insight.

Just be careful when you listen to them, because you never know when the Thought Police might be listening.

Faspa (Vancouver) //

Faspa is a Vancouver-based indie rock band with a sound akin to Two Door Cinema Club, Franz Ferdinand, and the Arkells. The four members of the band grew up actively playing music throughout the Fraser Valley and have now established a refined style of groovy, indie rock beats, consisting of crisp, guitar-driven rhythms with moments of jazz fusion influence. Faspa primarily aspires to avoid receiving another noise complaint while simultaneously creating fun, and upbeat environments at live shows.

Cassandra Maze (Vancouver) //

Cassandra Maze is not your average musician or performer. She is a fierce frontwoman, a songwriter with an ear to the ground and a one-woman-band-looper-extraordinaire, transfixing audiences with her distinctive fusion of alternative and dance pop.
