Environment Canada issues heavy rain, wind warning for Metro Vancouver

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for parts of Metro Vancouver.

According to the weather agency, “strong winds and heavy rains” will begin tonight.

The weather statement is in effect for the following areas:

City of Vancouver – including Burnaby and New Westminster
Metro Vancouver – southeast including Surrey and Langley

“An intense front will approach the south coast tonight bringing strong winds and heavy rain. Rain and wind warnings have already been issued for several south coastal regions and additional warnings may be issued later today,” said Environment Canada.

Later in the week, thunderstorms are expected due to “unstable onshore flow.”

According to Environment Canada, rain and grey skies are in the forecast for the coming week.
