Famed director Guillermo del Toro proclaims his love for Vancouver bookstore
While Vancouver is known for its beautiful scenery, Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro has proclaimed his love for another gem in the city.
Toro — who is known for directing Academy Award-winning films Pan’s Labyrinth and Toronto-shot, The Shape of Water — took to Twitter to give a shout out to MacLeod’s Books on West Pender.
“Had a moment free in Vancouver. Spent it in heaven at McLeod’s bookstore in 455 Pender. Found true treasures…” wrote Toro.

Toro also said he “bought a box of books -including a ghost anthology illustrated by Lynd Ward.”
Keep an eye out for Toro around town — he’ll most likely have a book from Mcleod’s in hand.
