Dîner en Blanc returns with two secret locations in Vancouver this summer

Time to send your summery white outfit to the cleaners, and get ready to race for a reservation:Le Dîner en Blanc – Vancouver has announced it will return on August 24, 2017.

This is the wildly popular annual event that finds hundreds of Vancouverites gathering at a location that is only revealed to them the day of the event for an epic and visually stunning ticketed picnic al fresco.

Started nearly 30 years ago in Paris, the tradition has been going strong for several years now in Vancouver, where this year marks the sixth time locals will take part.

Guests, who are required to dress head to toe in all-white garb, bring their chairs, tables, food, wine, and portable decor to the top-secret locale for an evening of fun and camaraderie.

Tickets are highly coveted, and priority goes to past attendees who are already on the master list. Here’s how it goes:

Phase 1 is for members who attended the previous year; Phase 2 is for new members who are referred by Phase I attendees; and Phase 3 is for people who signed up on the waiting list. For those looking to sign up for Phase 3, registration is now open at vancouver.dinerenblanc.com/register.

There’s an exciting twist of sorts for the 2017 Vancouver event: “Vancouver will be the first city outside of Paris to host this glamourous event at dual locations,” explains Tyson Villeneuve, co-founder of event organizer The Social Concierge.

Villeneuve also adds that the event will feature acoustical music, creative dance, pop-up features, and art at both of the DeB Vancouver locations this August.

The sixth annual Dîner en Blanc will take place rain or shine, and once guests confirm, participation is mandatory. Guests are asked to dress elegantly in “stylish and tasteful” garb, and all clothing and accessories must be white. They’ll meet at an assigned “departure location” in order to preserve the excitement and secrecy about the locations. When it’s all over, guests must clean up all of their belongings and litter.
