A Coquitlam motorcyclist was killed after he collided with an SUV early on Wednesday evening.
According to police, the incident took place just after 5 pm, at the intersection of Como Lake Road and Porter Street.
The motorcyclist, a 54-year-old Coquitlam resident, died in the collision, while both the passenger and the driver of the SUV were unhurt in the incident.
Police said even though the investigation is still in its early stages, driver impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash for either parties involved.
In light of this incident, police said they are asking everyone to be “extra cautious” in these summer months.
“Cars and trucks need to be mindful of seeing more motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians,” said Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Michael McLaughlin. “We’re also asking motorcyclists to ride as defensively as possible and wear the best helmet, protective gear, and high-visibility clothing that they can.”
