Big Smoke Burger's West Broadway location closed

After opening on West Broadway last July, Toronto-based Big Smoke Burger has shuttered its first franchise in Western Canada.

While this is devastating news for burger lovers across the city, there’s no need to fret, as the popular burger joint is simply looking for new digs.

While Big Smoke Burger’s social media pages don’t allude to the sudden closure of this storefront, a single sheet of paper in the restaurant’s window does. It reads:

Big Smoke needs to be big. This location was just too small.

This location has been closed, as of June 3, 2016, and will be relocated in the near future. Stay tuned. We thank our customers for their support over the past year and look forward to serving them in a new location that will resemble our store on Burnaby Mountain. Beer, wine, and an expanded menu will be the focus of the new Vancouver location.

We have enjoyed our time at Broadway and Cambie. In the meantime visit Burnaby Mountain to see what the future of Big Smoke Burger will be.

The burger chain’s second Lower Mainland location at Simon Fraser University’s Burnaby campus (8901 University High Street, Cornerstone Mews) remains open. This spacious fast-casual restaurant, which has been fitted out with a mix of rustic and industrial furnishings, provides diners with an idea of what the new Vancouver location might look like once it re-locates.
